All over the world there is a general respect for a professional who has done yeomen work in his field and his experience and observations in his choosen professional field is always sought after even after he formally retires at the age 58 /60 ( in india).
But out here in Chennai there is a general aversion to any one who applies for a job opportunity even after the advertiser mentions in his copy that retired person with dynamic capabilityand track record can apply. Some how other this stated talk is not walked through by the powers that be. I for one have mailed in more than ten job applications for a teaching assignment in Business schools in and around madras based on my experience of having taught in a Business school based on years of expertise i have gathered as Management Trainer.
Here the advertisers do not even have the courtesy to send a e mail either acknowledging receipt of application or a word of regred. Does it mean that there is surfeit of man power much above the demand curve. I do not understand . Or do the recruiter have a mental prejudice that a retired person would not deliver results. After all as a prospective employer they have a system in place to assess the capability of a candidate and in addition to that they can give a short term contract of a few months to assess the performance in action . without doing any of this if the Institution keeps quiet that means they simply donot care to walk thier talk.
I have another presumption that probably becuase of overwhelming number of candidates they are able to settle for some one who can be paid the least amount of pay and perks without worrying about quality of staff.
Any one wants to comment on my observation are welcome to shoot.
With warm regards
